SHOREWOOD, IL – The Illinois Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) State Lodge and police organizations representing the 49th Legislative District today announced the endorsement of state Senator Jennifer Bertino-Tarrant.
“In the Illinois Senate, Jennifer Bertino-Tarrant has demonstrated her commitment to supporting those who have dedicated their lives to protecting and serving others,” said Chris Southwood, President of the Illinois Fraternal Order of Police State Lodge. “We are excited to endorse Jennifer in her campaign for state Senate so she can continue to give police officers a strong voice in Springfield.”
The FOP State Lodge represents more than 34,000 active-duty and retired police officers in Illinois. Chartered in 1963, the organization is the second largest State Lodge in the country.

Since elected to the Illinois Senate, Bertino-Tarrant has made public safety and health a top priority. Bertino-Tarrant has championed legislation to ban dangerous caffeine powder for those under the age of 18, ensured 9-1-1 can be dialed from any phone line, and worked to provide more funding be available for substance abuse treatment initiatives.
The announcement of the Illinois F.O.P. State Lodge endorsement follows the recent endorsement of the Associated Fire Fighters of Illinois, representing professional fire fighters and paramedics.
